Mondays with mary: Ecumenical Fellowship
Monday, October 23: 7:30 A.M. at Blackfriars
Monday, November 6: 7:30 A.M. at Blackfriars
This ecumenical fellowship and discussion group will focus on the dynamic interaction between Marian doctrine and devotion in Christian life. This group is open to anyone in the Oxford community: men and women, Christians of any background, and anyone curious about Mary as a part of Christian life. No prior knowledge of Marian doctrine or devotion is expected. You are welcome to come to any or all the sessions. We will meet for Mass at 7:30 am at Blackfriars, then pray the Salve Regina and one decade of the rosary. Following that, we will meet at Blackfriars Hall to share coffee and pastries. Professor Mooney Clayton will guide a discussion on the significance of Marian doctrines, images, and devotions for integrating reason and the imagination, doctrine and mystery, in Christian life.

Lecture by Fr Philip-Neri Reese, O.P. of the Angelicum
Monday, November 6: 7:30 P.M. at Blackfriars
The standard accounts of Aquinas's theory of truth present him as a straightforward proponent of what is called "correspondence theory." In this talk, Fr Philip-Neri Reese aims to show not only that St. Thomas's theory of truth is far more nuanced than the standard account suggests, but also that it has surprising—and surprisingly interesting—consequences for logic and art.
