    Concerts

Oxford homes some of the world’s finest musicians and musical ensembles. Many organizations, such as the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, offer inexpensive student tickets. The Chapels of New College (Thursdays 13:15), Merton, and Queens offer free organ concerts weekly during term time.

  • Christ Church Cathedral Oxford

    Evensong

Choral Evensong at Oxford carries forward a rich theological and cultural tradition within the Anglican church. Held near sunset each day, this tradition focuses on the singing of psalms and other Christian canticles. Many colleges host Evensong nightly, some daily.

  • Galleries and Museums

At Oxford, opportunities to learn abound outside the ivory towers. Free museums such as the Ashmolean and exhibits such as Christ Church Picture Gallery (free to Oxford students) boast inimitable collections of classical and Christian art. While we reject the Enlightenment’s emphasis on human happiness to the neglect of virtue, we recognize that much beautiful art—and often Christian art—grew out of the cultural movements surrounding the Enlightenment.
